Ford’s popular Focus, available since model year 2000, is available as a sedan (ZX4), 3 door hatch (ZX3), wagon (ZXW), and in later years, a 5-door hatch (ZX5). Two engine choices were offered, both 2.0L 4 cylinder engines, one was a single-overhead cam, and the second, dubbed Zetec, offered dual-overhead cam engineering which was good for an additional 20 horsepower, without needing a lot of extra fuel. The Ford Focus was a major styling advance for ford, and replaced the aging Ford Escort and Escort wagon. People were immediately drawn to the unique Focus styling, and were pleased to find that the Focus was also a very functional vehicle, particularly the wagon, which offered unparalleled storage capacity for such a small fuel-efficient vehicle. Available with tilt and telescopic steering, air conditioning, power windows, locks, mirrors, trunk (or hatch), as well as alloy wheels, heated leather seats, sunroof, keyless entry, traction control, heated mirrors and front/side curtain airbags for a price that left most imports lagging far behind, the high-feature Focus became a runaway sales success for Ford.
