Honda introduced its first small all-wheel-drive AWD CR-V sport utility vehicle in 1997, and instantly became a hit with consumers. Based on the existing Civic platform, the Honda CR-V offered all wheel drive security and stability in any weather, all for the price of a midsize sedan. Not to mention that with a small 4 cylinder engine, the fuel sipping manners of the CR-V were also much-appreciated by consumers. The CR-V was redesigned in 2002, and offered more room, more features, a new engine and updated style. The engine grew from 2.0L to 2.4L, which gave the CR-V a much needed boost in the performance department, while still offering excellent fuel economy. The CR-V offers seating for five, and a generous cargo area. Even base LX models are equipped with a full complement of power options, such as power windows, locks, mirrors, rear hatch and glass, as well as air conditioning, tilt steering, CD player and more. EX models come standard with alloy wheels, keyless entry, cruise control and optional sunroof. EX-L models have leather seating, available in tan or gray. With the redesign in 2002, Honda increased the length of time required between timing belt changes, from every 120,000 km to 160,000 km. The CR-V was redesigned again in 2007.
