Fluid

Fluids break down over time and PH levels change. Contaminants enter the fluid supply. When a fluid can no longer do its job effectively, the system that relies upon it no longer functions effectively. Running an engine on low or dirty oil can cause engine wear and overheating.  Antifreeze that is past its useful life can result in overheating or even engine failure. Worn out transmission fluid can cause improper shifting and hesitation.

Oil Change

Most manufactures recommend that you change your vehicle’s oil and oil filter every 3 months or every 5,000 kms, whichever comes first. Consult your owner’s manual for the exact specifications for your vehicle or ask us for a free Manufacturer’s Scheduled Maintenance Guide for your vehicle. Some newer vehicles are programmed for up to 7,000 kms under “normal” driving conditions. Your owner’s manual will describe “normal” and “severe” conditions relative to your vehicle, but severe driving conditions include driving in stop-and-go traffic making frequent short trips (less than 5 kms per trip), lengthy high-speed trips, driving in extreme temperatures (over 30 C or below freezing), and towing and hauling. The average driver probably considers his or her driving conditions normal, but the truth is that most of us in Ottawa drive under severe conditions far more often that we realize and should time our oil changes accordingly.
Select the oil change that best fits your automotive needs.

Canadian Auto Mall’s Standard Oil Change includes:

  • Regular Oil filter replacement (catridge type oil filters extra)
  • Oil change with up to 5 quarts of 5w20 or 5w30 or 10w30 quality motor oil
  • Chassis lube

Canadian Auto Mall also offers quality synthetic oil changes. Please ask us for details

Transmission Fluid

Canadian Auto Mall’s professional technicians will replace up to 12 L of fluid and provide a new transmission filter.

Transmission flush is a process that clears the old transmission fluid from the transmission of a vehicle. This process also helps to remove residue of older transmission fluid from the converters, coolers, and cooler lines that often are part of the design for the transmission. In a simple draining of old transmission fluid, a drain plug in the transmission is removed and the remaining fluid is allowed to accumulate in a pan. While this process does make it possible to rid the transmission of a significant amount of the older fluid, it does not thoroughly cleanse the system. The end result is that without a transmission fluid flush, there is still a fair amount of older fluid present. When this is the case, the older fluid will mingle with the new transmission fluid and thus dilute the effectiveness of the new fluid. Most manufactures recommend a good cleaning every 50 – 60K kilometers.

By employing a transmission flush, more of the older fluid is removed and the overall transmission system is cleansed. This means there is less residue to contaminate and weaken the new transmission fluid. The presence of fresh transmission fluid means less stress placed on the transmission itself, which in turn can prolong the life of the transmission. If your fluid is past manufacturer specifications or appears extremely dirty or contaminated, we will recommend a flush service to help head off any potential problems that it might cause.

Radiator Flush

Your car’s radiator and cooling system needs to be clean to be cool. As time goes on, your car’s radiator builds solid deposits that can clog the cooling system. A quick, inexpensive radiator flush can keep the system in shape. A once a year flush will keep

Brake Fluid Flush

Brake fluid in the typical vehicle can become contaminated in two years or less. This is because the fluid absorbs moisture, which works its way through the hydraulic system. Under heavy braking conditions, such as those encountered in mountainous or hilly driving or when towing a trailer, moisture in the overheated fluid vaporizes (boiling point of water is lower than that of brake fluid) and braking efficiency is reduced. Even under normal driving conditions this condition can develop if the brake fluid is seriously contaminated.
